About Ocean Express Group
The Group commenced operation in 1984 with its first company, M/s Communications and Commerce International (Pvt) Limited, a Ship Management & Technical Consultancy Company, managed by senior professionals belonging to the First Batch (1962) of the Pakistan Merchant Marine Academy and having vast afloat experience aboard Pakistan Merchant Fleet and Neptune Orient Lines of Singapore, as well as Ship Management experience, with Arya Shipping Lines at Tehran and Gulf East Ship Management, a Hong Kong based company.In 1988-89 the Group extended its operation to UAE operating as Middle East Shipping and Trading Agencies, a Ship Management and Agency Network, operating and managing four owned and several management vessels.
In 1992-93, M/s Swift Shipping (Pvt) Limited was established at Karachi in association with a powerful Agency Network in UAE mainly to act as agents in Pakistan for Reef Container Lines, a Swedish Company which operated regular container lines service from UAE and Karachi to East Africa and the Indian Ocean, Islands of Mauritius and Seychelles. Swift Shipping also got appointed as Shipping Agents for the Swedish Agents for the Swedish Car Carriers, M/s Wellanius Lines.
The Company also got involved with the break bulk trade acting as agents of tramp vessels calling Karachi Port on chartered terms.
In April 2002 the Group was appointed as General Agents for IRISL Container Lines in Pakistan. The Agency for IRISL Container Line is being handled dedicatedly by the Group Company, Ocean Express Agencies (Pvt) Limited. IRISL Operation which was non-existent in Pakistan in 2002, has now developed fully with a direct weekly service from South Asia to Karachi and a fortnightly service from North China/Hong Kong to Karachi with a total inbound import volume of about 2500 TEU per month. IRISL is also operating a weekly service from Karachi to Mediterranean and Europe via Dubai and also to Iranian and other Persian Gulf Ports with outbound laden export volume of about 1500 TEU per month.
